Having gone through the loot they gained in the last session, albeit failing to do any identify spells because Drex didn’t want to “waste” his ‘’’precious pearls’’’, the group informed the rescued prisoners that they planned to escort them to Thomar’s Crossing, but old only do so after they had got back from the Storm Elf Barrows, which was barely a half-day’s walk away.

Leaving the (skeletal) horse and cart with the ex-prisoners, the group followed the instructions that Bazig had given them and hiked across country to find the Storm Elf Barrows, reaching them just after midday, the chunky ancient dwarven made ceramic golem stomping along behind them.

During the journey, Cormir attuned to the long sword they had found.  He discovered that he could cause it to illuminate with flickering cold flames which would become hot dealing additional fire damage when striking a foe.

Reaching a cave entrance showing signs of use, they yelled out the “password”, and after a few seconds, headed in.   A steep narrow path lead down to a large dark cave with a flat muddy floor and a fairly high ceiling.  Lumps in the mud gave them causes for concern, but with Spank the fire-monkey leading the way in his fiery form and the golem behind them, they trudged on.  Cormir motioned that he could hear something in the distance, he had heard some voices speaking in a guttural language, albeit in a conversational tone.  A moment later, the group were somewhat unsurprised when skeletons surged up out of the lumps of mud and started flinging shards of bone at them.  

Fast off the block, Cormir surges into action, drawing his now flaming sword and slashing at the nearest skeleton, killing it in one blow.  Drex takes a bone shard, feeling nauseous as he takes 8  damage out of his temporary hp and is momentarily poisoned.  Spinning around, Drex joins his hands together and causes a spray of flames to erupt from his fingertips.  Two of the mud covered skeletons crackle, 

A brief battle started, during which the distant voices could be heard rushing closer, a pair of hobgoblins rushing around the corner, seeming alarmed by the ongoing battle.  Morthos, deciding they were enemies, fired one of the new magical arrows at them, unfortunately missing, the arrow shattering on the rock wall behind them with a  

During the battle, Spank revealed one of his capabilities, emitting a burst of fire and scorching some of the skeletons nearest him.

A few moments later, one of the hobgoblins was also dead and the other fled, yelling something that almost sounded obscene - "Kunk! Kunk!" - but was probably a name.

With the skeletons defeated, the group hurried after the fleeing hobgoblin, rounding the nearest corner in the cave to discover some steps up out of the mud and through a large stone doorway.  Beyond, a corridor headed away to the left, with a number of doors close to each other running down one wall.  Some tentative cries for help could be heard through them - prisoners?
