===Session Forty Three - 12th Dec 2025=== In the heart of the wilderness, Cormir faced off against three imposing frost giants, one of whom bore the scars of battle as a shaman. As the protective dome around the party faded, Cormir surged forward with lethal intent, delivering a precise strike that severed the shaman's femoral artery, ending its life in an instant. Blood sprayed in the air as he followed up with a fierce attack against one of the remaining giants. The giants, enraged by the sudden loss of their ally, retaliated with brutal force. One giant struck Cormir hard with a greataxe, while another missed its mark. Above the chaos, Drex, the tiefling warlock, ascended into the air, positioning himself strategically with his fiery companion, Spank, hovering protectively nearby. Meanwhile, Mogadon, the steadfast dwarf cleric, unleashed a third-level Guiding Bolt, sending radiant energy into the frost giant and granting advantage to the next attack against it. Morthos, the cunning tiefling rogue, seized the moment to unleash a fiery breath from her potion, scorching both giants before making a deft retreat. Cormir pressed the attack, striking the first giant twice and using his Second Wind to regain some vitality. However, the frost giant turned its wrath on Mogadon, landing two devastating blows that left the cleric barely standing. The first giant continued its assault on Cormir before shifting its attention to Morthos. Drex responded with two Eldritch Blasts aimed at the giant threatening Mogadon, inflicting considerable damage. Morthos retaliated with another fiery breath attack, hitting the second giant before gracefully disengaging. Recognizing the need for a tactical retreat, Mogadon invoked his expeditious retreat, pulling back to safety while still supporting Cormir. With the battlefield shifting, Mogadon cast another Guiding Bolt at the first giant, further empowering the next attacker. Morthos angled her last Fire Breath cone, injuring both giants, and Cormir capitalized on the advantage bestowed by Mogadonโs spell, delivering a decisive blow that brought down the first giant. As the second giant retaliated, it hurled a javelin at Morthos, who expertly used her Uncanny Dodge to mitigate the damage, though Cormir was not so fortunate and took a hit. Drex launched a faltering Eldritch Blast at the second giant, but it was Morthos who struck with a sneak attack from behind, delivering a heavy blow. Mogadon followed up with yet another Guiding Bolt, staggering the giant further. With fierce determination, Cormir charged in for a vicious thrust that ultimately felled the second giant. With the echoes of battle fading, the party took stock of their injuries. Drex attempted a careful landing but found himself with a javelin embedded in his stomach. Quick to respond, Mogadon cast Cure Wounds to restore Drex's health, carefully removing the javelin before turning his attention to healing himself and Morthos, ensuring they were ready for whatever challenges lay ahead. As Morthos examined the shaman's remains, she used Detect Magic to uncover a Bone-And-Ice Staff radiating residual magic. Among the shaman's belongings, she also found a large, magical medallion, a Demijohn-sized earthenware bottle filled with liquid, and a handful of crude gold coins. Mogadon, ever practical, beheaded the giants and suggested storing their bodies in the Portable Hole, but the party declined. Instead, he collected their helmets, axes, and javelins, mounting the giants' heads on spikes as a grim warning to others. Afterward, the group moved to a safer location and set up camp, re-establishing their protective dome. The following day, a severe storm battered the region, resulting in one level of exhaustion for the party, which they alleviated with a long rest. As they navigated a swollen river, they employed a clever combination of spells and tactics to cross without incident. Upon returning to Tomar's Crossing, they were greeted by a town bustling with refugees and strained for resources. Malaga, the tavern keeper, welcomed them back and informed them of the town's dire shortages. In a show of generosity, Mogadon donated building materials from the Portable Hole, helping to organize local builders to construct barracks for the displaced. Three days later, Bessie, the skeletal horse, returned with much-needed food supplies traded from Il'Shara's Retreat, aiding the town's efforts. However, peace was short-lived. On the third night back, the tranquility was shattered by the sounds of a demon attack. Feriae the Wise, a ghost druid, alerted the party that the town was under siege. Five ghost wizards conjured a protective shield over the civilians, urging the party to engage the attackers whilst they did their best to protect the innocent. As the party stepped outside, they spotted around twenty demonic pig/gibbon like creatures scrabbling toward the town on all fours. With defensive stances prepared, the party began to strategize for the imminent battle, resolute in their determination to protect the town and its inhabitants from the encroaching darkness.
