=== Background: === Long ago, the Viridescent One was a noble fey of [[Láude]]’s court in the Feywild, an archfey entrusted with the sacred duty of tending to the great wilds of Orsein. It was a creature of profound beauty, responsible for the flourishing of forests, the bloom of flowers, and the cycle of seasons. Its power was to guide life through the natural rhythms, ensuring that the balance between growth and decay was preserved. However, the Viridescent One became consumed by a perverse obsession with the concept of life eternal, seeing decay as a flaw rather than a necessary balance. This obsession led it down a dark path. The Viridescent One sought ways to subvert the natural end of life, twisting growth into something perverse and unnatural. It began to experiment with unholy powers, corrupting the fertile land under its care, bringing forth monstrous plants, aberrant growths, and blights that twisted both flora and fauna into horrifying parodies of life. The once-beautiful fey became something else—its form now a grotesque fusion of plant, beast, and rotting flesh, exuding the smell of death and decay. Láude, the god of nature, banished the Viridescent One from the Feywild, casting it into the deep wilds of Orsein. There, it lingered in isolation, its mind festering with hatred for the natural cycles it once cherished. It became an agent of corruption, a creature driven to twist the natural order and mock the beauty of life. This bitterness and its newfound connection to decay attracted the attention of Durnstang, who saw in the Viridescent One a perfect tool to dismantle nature’s hold on the Weave. By subverting the natural cycles, the Viridescent One could help create widespread imbalance, accelerating the unraveling of the Weave and hastening Durnstang’s ultimate goal. The Viridescent One, now a key figure in the Cabal, eagerly assists in Durnstang’s plans, relishing the chance to destroy the natural balance that it once upheld. Its ultimate goal is to see the world transformed into a grotesque realm where life is distorted, death is delayed unnaturally, and nature is an unrecognizable landscape of mutation, rot, and eternal suffering.
