===Past Activities=== The Cult of the Final Veil has a long history of secretive operations, ranging from assassinations of religious leaders to the desecration of holy sites. While many of their past activities are shrouded in mystery, certain key events have brought the cult’s presence to the attention of Orsein’s authorities. *The Fall of Ulver’s Rest (500 years ago)One of the cult’s earliest known activities, the city of [[Ulver’s Rest]] was mysteriously wiped out in a single night. Investigations revealed evidence of necromantic rituals, with thousands of citizens sacrificed in an attempt to sever their souls from the Weave. It is believed that Varelia orchestrated this massacre to create a massive surge of undead bound to the cult’s will. The city remains a haunted ruin, its few surviving souls wandering as restless spirits. *The Corruption of the Dawnspire (300 years ago)The Cult of the Final Veil succeeded in infiltrating the holy order of [[Dawnspire]], a prominent monastic temple devoted to the goddess Gaeda. Severin the Whisperer corrupted the temple’s leadership, sowing discord and convincing many of its priests to turn away from Gaeda’s teachings. This ultimately led to a schism, with several priests embracing the cult’s doctrine and performing a ritual that turned the once-sacred temple into a place of despair. The site is now considered cursed, abandoned by the faithful. *The Cataclysm of Maztrika (300 years ago): Although the sinking of Maztrika is mostly attributed to the gods’ wrath for the overuse of Epic magic, some scholars have uncovered evidence suggesting that the Cult of the Final Veil may have been involved. According to these sources, cultists infiltrated key positions within the empire, subtly pushing for reckless use of magic in an attempt to cause the disaster. If true, the cult’s role in the Cataclysm would mark one of their most devastating successes.
