===Session Twenty Six - 20th September 2024=== The party spend the evening at Journy's Tavern, answering question from the curious locals about all sorts of things - especially their opinions on the elections happening that day. [DAY 44] The following morning, they finally hear the results of the elections, with Paumine Sandlewood being elected Chairperson, and Bjalien Viadas, Someth Skullcleaver and Malaga Taerwain all being elected to the village council. They are summoned before the inaugural council meeting where they outlined the possibility of Tomar's Crossing setting up a trade agreement with the reformed ex-bandits (and some other non-humans) holed up at Il'Shara's Retreat. They spend the rest of the day making some purchases of supplies for their planned journey to "The House of Chaos" - an old goblinoid temple to "Gartlemak", somewhere about five days north east of Tomar's Crossing - where they hope to find the druid ghost Melgar the Quick to get the next components of the ritual to defeat Xancrown. Morthos manages to find a refugee who has successfully taken over as "Potion maker" in the village, and buys one potion of healing from him. Mogadon purchases additional rations for the journey, knowing he will also be able to use his "Create Food and Water" spell to keep their horses fed in the mostly barren wilderness. When they approach Malaga Taerwain to ask if she will look after their cart and undead horse, she suggests that they loan "Bessie" and the cart to the village so that they can use it when they head to Il'Shara's Retreat to negotiate for fruit & veg from Bazig and co. Mogadon also takes the time to create a continual flame inside Morthos's hooded lantern, saving them the need to ever light or refuel it again. [DAY 45] Finally after another comfortable night in Malaga's Inn, the party finally set out. Within hours, an unexpected electrical storm blows up, and whilst setting up a magical dome to shelter in, poor Cormir is struck by lightning. In the somewhat crowded dome (4 horses and 4 people), Mogadon heals the fighter, and after a few hours, the storm blows itself out and they press on, having only lost a few hours of travelling time. As night falls, they set up a camp, this time bother Mogadon and Drex going through the ritual to set up two separate domes - Drex and Morthos plus their mounts in one, Cormir and Mogadon and their mounts in the other. [DAY 46] The next day passes uneventfully, they group trudging through the wilderness, continuing to head north-east in the general direction of where they believe the House of Chaos to be before finally setting up camp in an ideal shallow cave on the side of a short cliff. [DAY 47] In the morning, Mogadon and Morthos's eyes are drawn to something glinting on the ground near the cave, and end up picking up a Gold Ring set with obsidians (worth about 100gp), a set of Jasper Earrings (also probably worth about 100gp) and an ornamental Gilded dagger, {also worth about 100gp). A lucky find indeed. The rest of the day passes unevenfully, bar spotting and following for a short while some track of other travellers - a group of between 10 and 20 probably human people. As night falls, another good camp site is located and the party rest up. [DAY 48] The weather turns wet again this day, and during the early afternoon, a cairn of stones just off their path is spotted by Mogadon and Morthos. Investigating it digs up a waterproof bag that seems to contain a descent stash of flour, salt and grain. Mogadon and Cormir insist that is left alone, and Morthos and Drex make a mental note of its location, in case they happen to pass this way again. The camp site chosen for that night is not ideal, but not terrible either. [DAY 49] As the group are breaking camp in the morning, they notice a group of people creeping up on the camp. When Mogadon challenges them, they break into a run, attacking the camp and crying out the name "<u>[[Gartlemak]]</u>". A brief and probably one-sided battle took place - with all the cultists being killed in fairly short order. Amongst their belongings, a notepad included some more specific instructions on how to discover the entrance to the House of Chaos!
