When subjected to the spell "Detect Magic," the Tempest Staff emits a strong aura of Evocation magic, with faint traces of Abjuration.

Type: Staff, rare (requires attunement by a spellcaster)

- The Tempest Staff can be used as a magic quarterstaff that grants a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls.
- It has 10 charges. While holding it, you can use an action to expend 1 or more of its charges to cast the following spells from it, using your spell save DC:
  - *Lightning Bolt* (3rd level, 3 charges)
  - *Thunderwave* (1st level, 1 charge; can cast at higher levels by expending additional charges)
  - *Call Lightning* (3rd level, 3 charges)
- The staff regains 1d4+4 expended charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the staff loses its magical properties and becomes a nonmagical quarterstaff.
