The adventurers stepped cautiously into the burial hall of Gal'Nara's Tomb, an octagonal chamber teeming with the remnants of the past. Bones lay scattered across the floor, and eight gilded stone doors loomed around them, each adorned with intricate bas reliefs that whispered of ancient stories. As the darkness clung to the corners, Drex summoned glowing orbs of Dancing Lights, while his fire elemental companion, Spank, flickered to life, casting a warm glow that pushed back the shadows.
Within the shadowy depths of the dwarven tomb of Gal’Nara, the adventurers pressed onward in their quest to locate the elusive druid ghost, Nalla the Gifted. They had already faced formidable challenges, including the defeat of skeletal minotaurs and wraiths, and uncovered a journal detailing the reigns of eight monarchs depicted on the ornate doors of the tomb.

With a sense of trepidation, the party inspected the doors for any signs of disturbance—footprints and dust patterns were carefully noted, though they dared not touch the ominous thresholds. Their attention turned to Door 4, where Mogadon’s keen eye caught an engraving of Talia Gal’Nara, the Steel Queen, majestically seated atop a crowned hobgoblin head. Door 5 depicted a fierce struggle, an earlier monarch wrestling a bear, with human bones ominously strewn outside its threshold. Meanwhile, Door 8 dazzled with ornate designs and seven glowing gems, hinting at powerful protective magics. Drex, sensing the energies around Door 8, advised caution against dispelling its wards, fearing they might be tied to prismatic effects.
As they approached Door 8, its intricate wards caught their attention—seven glowing gems surrounded by an ominous inscription warning: “touch me not without the objects written under death masks.” Intrigued yet cautious, they continued their investigation. Meanwhile, Door 7 had been breached, revealing a Valok lurking within, ready to charge. Cormir de Gaste (Cormir) de Gaste (Cormir de Gaste (Cormir)) stood resolutely at the threshold, prepared to defend against the imminent threat.

Outside Door 5, Drex detected transmutation magic among the remains, a clear warning of the dangers that lay ahead. Morthos discovered a concealed keyhole, suggesting the door opened inward and was trapped. With deft hands, he bypassed the lock, and as the door swung open, Cormir de Gaste (Cormir) pushed it aside to reveal a ruined chamber. The moment was electric; three wraiths emerged, flickering in the dim light, echoing the skeletal remains that littered the room.
In a flurry of action, Drex, the warlock, unleashed two powerful Eldritch Blasts, staggering the Valok. Morthos, the agile tiefling rogue, readied herself to strike as soon as Cormir de Gaste (Cormir) engaged the creature. The Valok surged forth, and Cormir de Gaste (Cormir) landed a solid blow with his magical sword, while Morthos followed up with a well-placed sneak attack, inflicting considerable damage before she retreated to safety.

Cormir de Gaste (Cormir), ever the stalwart defender, raised his shield, prepared to negotiate with the spectral foes. But before he could utter a word, Drex unleashed a Fireball against the back wall, scorching the wraiths yet leaving them standing. Mogadon quickly followed with Spirit Guardians, channeling radiant energy that hampered the wraiths’ movements. In retaliation, one of the wraiths struck at Mogadon, inflicting necrotic damage and reducing his hit point maximum—a moment that underscored the peril they faced. Cormir de Gaste (Cormir) engaged with fierce determination, landing solid blows against the incorporeal enemy, while Morthos executed a sneak attack before deftly disengaging.
The Valok, undeterred, retaliated fiercely, clawing and biting at Cormir de Gaste (Cormir) and inflicting significant harm. In a moment of inspiration, Mogadon, the cleric, cast Guiding Bolt, illuminating the Valok and granting their next attack an advantage. Seizing the opportunity, Cormir de Gaste (Cormir) landed two decisive strikes that opened deep wounds on the creature, while Drex continued the assault with more Eldritch Blasts.

As the battle raged on, Drex’s Eldritch Blast obliterated one wraith, and the remaining spirits attempted to flee. But Mogadon and Cormir de Gaste (Cormir) were relentless, striking true, and with a final throw of his returning dagger, Mogadon dispatched the last wraith, restoring an eerie calm to the chamber.
Despite a momentary mishap from Morthos, who narrowly avoided hitting Cormir de Gaste (Cormir), the party maintained their focus. The Valok unleashed a necrotic cone attack, afflicting Cormir de Gaste (Cormir), Morthos, and Drex, causing them to retch and lose their reactions. Mogadon attempted another Guiding Bolt but missed; however, his gauntlets provided temporary hit points to bolster the party's resilience.

In the aftermath of combat, the adventurers took stock of their surroundings. Drex’s Detect Magic revealed several enchanted items among the remains and the sarcophagus. They uncovered a magical axe, a cloak, a ring, an armband, and a journal filled with spells and notes about the tomb. The sarcophagus yielded rotted coin purses and an amber hairpin, remnants of a long-lost era. With care, Mogadon repaired the shattered lid of the sarcophagus using Mending, honoring the resting place of the ancient monarch.
In a climactic moment, Cormir de Gaste (Cormir) landed a critical strike, dealing devastating damage to the Valok. With Mogadon and Drex combining their efforts, they finally brought the creature down. After the battle, Mogadon took the initiative to skin the Valok, securing its hide for future rituals, while the rest of the party took a moment to rest and recuperate.

As they identified the magical properties of their newfound treasures, they discovered the axe could harm incorporeal beings, the cloak aided stealth, and the ring offered life-saving abilities. They also noted the names of the eight monarchs interred within the tomb, including the Last Queen, Shelbez, whose door bore a dire warning: “touch me not without the objects written under death’s masks.
As they caught their breath, Drex identified a Wand of Arcane Volatility, an unstable yet powerful tool that would enhance his spellcasting. With the immediate threat quelled, they turned their attention to the crypt behind Door 7, discovering it belonged to Zeva Gal’Nara, Zeva Gal’Nara. A narrow crack in the wall hinted at more secrets beyond, as muffled calls for help echoed from the other side.

Their resolve strengthened, the party prepared to delve deeper into the tomb when faint cries for help echoed from behind Door 8. Morthos called out to “Nalla the Gifted,” but received no response. After careful deliberation, they placed the identified potions near Door 8, hoping to unlock its mysteries without direct contact until they understood what was required.
Exploring further, the party recovered a mithril disc inscribed with arcane runes, radiating divination magic, which Mogadon began to attune to. Their explorations yielded a substantial haul of treasure, including a significant amount of silver, gold, and platinum, as well as a carved amber gem. However, their pseudo dragon companion remained aloof, unwilling to descend from the upper steps.

With their goal of locating Nalla reaffirmed, the adventurers pressed on, securing their progress by wedging open the door to the sarcophagus and bypassing traps with meticulous care. Opening Door 6 revealed another tomb, barren of ropes or significant items, but they did manage to extract a clear potion for later use. Speculating on the meaning of the phrase “death’s masks,” the group believed it referred to associated regalia rather than literal masks.
Determined to push forward, they forced open Door 1, revealing yet another Valok within. Mogadon wasted no time, casting Guiding Bolt to illuminate the creature as the party braced for combat once more. With Drex channeling his wand to amplify his Eldritch Blasts, they coordinated their attacks against the Valok, successfully pushing it back into its chamber.

Their exploration continued with Door 7, where Morthos skillfully bypassed yet another trap. As the door creaked open, A Valok-like figure emerged, prompting the party to ready themselves for combat once more. Undeterred, the adventurers remained resolute in their mission to uncover the secrets of Gal'Nara's Tomb and rescue the ghostly druid they believed was trapped within.
After a tense exchange of blows, which included a second necrotic cone attack from the Valok, Drex decisively decapitated the creature with a powerful blast, allowing Mogadon to provide much-needed healing to his allies afterward. The party noted a similar crack in Door 1’s chamber, leading toward Door 8, as they continued their exploration.

Finally, they discovered a Brass Lantern with magical properties and set up a protective dome for a long rest. As the night passed, they replenished their strength and spells, readying themselves for the challenges that lay ahead.
