Session Thirty - 20th December 2024[edit]

The combat ended up being versus a demon of some sort similar to a Glabrezu. It was a close run thing, but the party managed to survive and then find the portal out of the strange realm that they found themselves in. When they exited, the found themselves facing a scary looking statue of another demon. Behind it was a concealed door leading to an area with two doors on either side and a stair leading up to what looked like a brick wall.

The brick wall turned out to be an illusion - leading the party back into the large square room where they had first encountered the group of cultists and followed some of them into their trial. Peeking through the illusion, the group saw nothing initially to worry them, and instead decided to explore the rooms on either side. Almost immediately, they discovered a group of 7 prisoners, which they released and showed to a store room so they could raid the supplies that the cultists had garnered. Another room turned out to be a bedroom of some sort of more senior cultist, and had a trapped chest in the room, within which they found an amulet of resistance to necrotic damage. Deciding to take a rest, they set up camp, only half way through their rest, to find themselves attacked by three cult zealots. Abandoning the safety of the dome they had set up in the bedroom area, they took the battle to the cultists and defeated them. They then entered the room to the south, where they found another statue - this one of a large bugbear. The statue seemed to partially animate, a ghostly figure appearing over its face as it squeezed out the words "help me". A dispel magic managed to release the ghost of Melgar the Quick who explained that a powerful magic user had managed to trap him in the statue and since then he'd not really been able to tell what was happening in the House of Chaos. When told about the ritual, he explained that the two components that the party would require for his part of the ritual (Necromancy and Enchantment) would be the skin of a Valok and a live Psudodragon.
