The party climbed down into the top level of the ziggurat, spending a moment to look around the austere stone corridor they found themselves in. To the south, a set of stairs, bounded by what appeared to be some sort of arcane barrier set into the floor/walls/ceiling, seemed, after some experimenting, to contain something invisible, or at least see-through, that looked like it might dissolve anything organic...
At the other end of the corridor, the "rug" turned out to actually be a very realistic mosaic inset into the floor. The two stone doors on either side of the rug were closed and after examining them, the group opened the one on the right which revealed a square room with suits of dwarven armour in the corners of the room and the walls lined in tapestries. Mogadon stepped into the room, and barely got halfway across it before the armour animated, starting to attack him. After a fierce battle, the group managed to defeat the suits of armour, Mogadon eyeing the broken suits with interest realising he might be able to create a set of plate mail for himself out of the various pieces.
The tapestries depicted dwarves sacrificing goblinoid creatures to appease Cay Naja, the dwarven god of death and decay - it also hints that this might be for the purpose of avoiding the Demonplague.
A door hidden behind a tapestry on the south wall opened up to another room - this one looking like a meditation chamber, with a large rug in the middle of the room, and lots of rotted meditation cushions around the outside of the room. This time, it is Drex who choses to enter the room first, eager to identify the magical rug in the middle of the floor. He is surprised when the rug rises up to try to engulf him.
After the rug of smothering has been dispatched, the group search the room, finding a couple of gems and coins on the floor (that Drex grabs) along with a jeweled tiara that Morthos picks up. Other than that, the room devoid of anything useful, and the group make their way back to the main corridor and after some struggles, eventually manage to unlock the opposite door - which revealed a similar looking room, minus the tapestries and suits of armour, but instead with a large circular weapon rack in the middle of the room...
